Cool everyone down with these refreshing SOOTHIES! They are naturally sweet, and frosty iced cold!

 

A SOOTHING DRINK TO FEED MIND, BODY, SOUL!

 

No, I did not misspell SMOOTHIE, I made a SOOTHIE! That is what I make when I’m anxious and my blood sugar is low! You can make it with any berry you like, but lately, for some reason, I’ve been craving strawberries!  Maybe it’s because it summer and the strawberries have been so sweet! Nothing beats fresh local berries and living in California we have access to fresh berries all year long. The growing season for strawberries runs from January through November and the peak season to enjoy them is April through August! So please enjoy this SOOTHIE!  When strawberries are out of season I make  “SOOTHIES”  with organic frozen berries, but nothing matching the glorious goodness of freshly picked berries.

When you look at a strawberry it is heart-shaped. As you know if you have read my cookbook, “Food for Thought”, I have a whole chapter on foods that look like body parts and the health benefits for that particular part of the body. So the heart shape of the strawberry is an indicator that this tiny little orb is super good for you. Strawberries protect the heart, increase HDL (good cholesterol and helps lower your blood pressure, reduces inflammation!

STRAWBERRY SOOTHIE!

INGREDIENTS

MAKES 2 CUPS, 2- 8 OUNCE SERVINGS! 

PLEASE USE ORGANIC INGREDIENTS! 

1/3 cup plain Greek Yogurt

12 medium strawberries stems removed ]

1 cup fresh orange juice

1/2  banana

1 tablespoon each of, chia, hemp

1 packet of Stevia (optional)

8  to 12 ice cubes

Place all the ingredients into a high-speed blender and blend for a good 30 to 40 seconds until smooth and slushy!
